I was waiting for a friend in a restaurant the other day and found myself wondering how I would distill leadership down into a formula. I came up with this sketch. Leadership is about influencing people. Nothing more. Nothing Less. Fear is what many people must overcome. The paradigm shift is influencing others to move from a fear of what will happen if they take action to being more concerned about what will happen f they don't take action. Their fear is usually a confidence issue either in the skills they have or concerns and anxiety about not having what it takes for the next role they will be asked to step into. That is overcome with development. You can't teach a non receptive audience. Receptivity is driven by the creation of Trust. Leaders who care are on solid ground to add vale by developing their people. They in turn will find the courage to move and take action,
