I work with leaders who want to avoid triggering a survival response in a feedback session. The Brain-Based Questions Playbook stops forcing confrontational feedback and starts utilizing cognitive inquiry. It leverages neuroscience to restructure how leaders ask questions."

  • My Origin Story

    Dedicated to Your Success

I believe in transparency and vulnerability. While these are words on a screen, they represent my demonstrative action to share the real me with you. We are afterall, unique. Simply put, I measure success by the way I impact people.

I've been fotunate to be on a journey of life long learning. I am still learning. It has been over four decades since I graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point. I have served in combat witht he 3d Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. I do my best to faithfully live in step with the ideals of West Point and the Ranger Creed. West Point's stated purpose is "to provide the nation with leaders of character". The Abrams charter was the foundational mandate for the modern 75th Raanger Regiment. It's power lies in its long-term vision for empowering future generations across the entire US Army.

Those formative years served me well as I moved into corporate life. I have led in a highly diverse environment for many years. From Fortune 500 Corporations to PE backed small and mid-market companies. Multi-cultural environments living abroad. Formerly incarcerated felons. Veterans with
traumatic brain injuries. Multi-generational teams. Recovering addicts.

I have studied Design Thinking at Stanford. Imersed myself in business startegy at the London Business Schoool. I studied neuro leadership to understand how the brain works. I became a certified behavioral analysis consultant. I spent several years immersed in an environment where many of my team struggled after several years of activity that damaged the brain coupled with a life journey that led to a few bad habits. I have studied the Startegy of AI at Wharton and learned to balance technology with the awe inspiring power of the human being to get things done. Access to AI is no longer the differentiator. Leadership judgement is.

To say I always got it right would be untrue. To say I paid the tuition to find a successful model that works when applied consistently by failing and learning
an awful lot along the way is the truth.

My drive to "defend the defenseless" and my personal resilience are rooted in a family history of trauma and survival. My father, a Korean War Marine, returned from combat with undiagnosed PTS and a deep-seated anger that he carried the rest of his life. Dad’s Mom died in child birth so he was raised by his two 17 year old Aunts. My mother was a survivor in her own right, born to a drug addict and raised in an orphanage until she was three because her adoptive father didn't want an infant in the house still in diapers.

Growing up as the oldest of five, I was physically tossed around and told I was "never good enough". As someone who got degrading feedback as a youth I was the underdog growing up. I learned what it feels like to not be seen and to have to grind to rise above that. Because of that I believe in the under dog. Every voice is missioncritical! I will give you a playbook you can use consistently to give feedback that lifts people up, drives engagement momentum and makes you business Go!

Back to gratitude. Despite this I was grateful that I had my Mom and Dad. Not everyone does. My Mom and Dad did not. Yet, despite thisenvironment, my parents provided: Dad worked three jobs. Mom taught me to sell Fuller Brush cleaning products and she and I share multiple paper routes. When Dad was on strike as a union electic company employee, we painted houses, cut grass and shoveled snow to ensure we had food and a roof. I went to
West Point get a free education but more importantly to learn how to be the protector I needed as a child.
